Discipleship

Discipleship is a lifelong journey of following Jesus, rooted in God’s grace and the promises of Baptism.

People of every age are called to grow together in faith through Scripture, prayer, worship, Word and Sacrament, community, and service. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we live out our baptismal vocation by loving our neighbors, seeking justice, caring for creation, and participating in God’s work in the world. Together, we are rooted in grace, formed in faith, and sent to serve.

Kingdom Kids

At Holy Cross, we believe children are not simply the future of the church—they are beloved children of God and an important part of the church today! Kingdom Kids is our Sunday morning faith formation ministry where children are welcomed, known, and encouraged to grow as disciples of Jesus.

Rooted in our Lutheran understanding of God’s abundant grace, Kingdom Kids helps children discover the promises of God first given to us in Baptism: that we belong to God, are surrounded by a community of faith, and are called to love and serve our neighbors.

Sunday mornings begin at 9:00 a.m. with joyful music before children gather for age-appropriate Bible stories, conversation, crafts, and activities. Through Scripture, prayer, creativity, relationships, and service, children explore how God’s story connects with their everyday lives.

Faith grows best in community. Kingdom Kids creates opportunities for children to build relationships with caring adults and people of other generations, discovering that following Jesus means learning together and putting faith into action through love and service.

Whether your family has been part of a church for years or you are just beginning to explore faith, there is a place for you and your children at Holy Cross. Come learn, wonder, grow, and experience God’s grace with us!

Youth Faith Formation

At Holy Cross, we believe young people are beloved children of God and vital members of the church today. Youth Faith Formation creates space for youth to explore their faith, ask honest questions, build meaningful relationships, and discover what it means to follow Jesus in their everyday lives.

Through Confirmation, Bible studies, service opportunities, and time together in Christian community, youth engage Scripture and the Lutheran faith while exploring the questions that matter to them. We encourage curiosity and conversation as young people consider how faith connects with friendships, school, family, decisions, current events, and the world around them.

Confirmation is an important part of this journey. Rooted in the promises made at Baptism, Confirmation helps youth explore Scripture, Lutheran theology, worship, the sacraments, and what it means to live out their baptismal vocation. Rather than marking the end of faith formation, Affirmation of Baptism celebrates another step in a lifelong journey of discipleship.

Youth also put faith into action by serving their neighbors and participating in the life and ministry of the congregation. Along the way, they are surrounded by a community that listens, encourages, learns, and grows with them.

Come with your questions, bring your whole self, and discover how God is calling you to live, love, and serve.

Adult Faith Formation

Faith is a lifelong journey of learning, questioning, wondering, and growing. At Holy Cross, Adult Faith Formation offers opportunities to explore Scripture, deepen our Lutheran faith, and discover how God’s Word speaks into the joys, challenges, and questions of everyday life.

Throughout the year, a variety of classes and seasonal Bible studies invite adults to engage Scripture in community. Together, we listen for God’s promises of grace, explore our Lutheran theological tradition, ask meaningful questions, and learn from the wisdom and experiences of one another. You don’t need to be a Bible expert—curiosity and a willingness to join the conversation are enough!

Our Word & Life group meets on the first Sunday of each month for conversation around the lectionary readings appointed for worship. Together, we consider where God’s Word meets our lives—our relationships, work, communities, concerns, and the events shaping our world.

As Lutherans, we believe God calls us through our Baptism to lives of faith and service in the world. Adult Faith Formation helps us connect what we hear on Sunday with how we live Monday through Saturday.

Come with your questions. Bring your experiences. Join the conversation as we grow together in faith and discipleship.
